I DON’T GET IT.  YOU’RE AN OPERA SINGER WHO DOES…WHAT?

I know!  It seems strange, right?  But here’s the deal: In my studies of the voice, the psyche, and the soul, I have found remarkable overlapping phenomena.  When we work on one, we work on the others.  If we do that intentionally, amazing things happen.  And no, I won’t make you sing unless you want to!  😉

OK BUT DO YOU *PROMISE* YOU WON’T MAKE ME SING?

Pinky swear and promise.  If I pressure you to sing when you don’t want to, I will refund your fee.

CAN I SEE YOUR RESUME BEFORE I DECIDE?

Of course!    Just email me at theoperayogi@gmail.com.  Please specify if you would like a copy of my teaching and healing resume, my performance resume or both.

DO YOU HAVE REFERENCES?

Absolutely.  You can email me at theoperayogi@gmail.com to ask to speak with my references live, or you can read the testimonials here:  http://sarahhelen.net/the-grapevine/

DO YOU WORK WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CLIENTS?

Absolutely.  Children and adults.

WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL?

Please check out my attendance policy here: http://sarahhelen.net/attendance-policy/

WHAT IF I KIND OF WANT TO DO A SESSION ON SINGING BUT I DON’T HAVE EXPERIENCE?

Yay!  Pull up a chair, and have a cup of tea.  We’ll go at your pace, and we can stop whenever you want.

WHAT IF I KIND OF WANT A VOCAL SESSION, BUT MY SINGING SUCKS?

Yay!  Pull up a chair, and have a cup of tea.  Being an opera-singing Juilliard graduate does not – I repeat – does not make me somehow morally superior to you.  Also, entertain the possibility that you might not be as bad as you think.  Many of us were told lies about our voices (sometimes by well-intentioned peoples) at early ages and have been too embarrassed or scared to get another opinion.  Being an opera-singing Juilliard graduate also does not make me mean, arrogant, or demanding.  C’monnnn…you know you want to!

WHAT ARE SESSIONS LIKE?

All sessions are relaxed and nurturing experiences.  We usually start with a check-in, then breath work and gentle stretching.  That is followed by guided meditation. After that, sessions vary depending on your needs, but can include chakra work (especially engaging the heart and opening the throat), Reiki, coaching and practice around finding and using your voice, and discussion interspersed with guided meditations custom-made for you.

For singers and actors, vocalise and repertoire work follows the opening meditation. We will use a non-threatening classical approach to all genres, as well as a focus on your heart and your stories to summon or polish your best voice.

Nearly every session ends with guided meditation.

BUT…I’M STILL SCARED.

It’s ok!  This kind of work can feel really scary and does to most clients when they are just starting out.  Take a few breaths and ask yourself, “What are the worst case scenario?”  Then ask yourself whether or not you can handle the worst case scenarios.  Next, ask yourself, “What are the best case scenarios,”  and “Is it worth the risk?”  This is the kind of work Samurai warriors used to do before battle.  Sometimes it can feel like that!

OKAAAAY…BUT I DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU.

Fair enough!  I’m sure I’d feel the same way.  It might help to check out my social media page (https://www.facebook.com/SarahHelenLandSingsTeachesHeals) or to read and/or speak with my references (http://sarahhelen.net/the-grapevine/).

I WANT TO, BUT I LIVE FAR AWAY.

You’re in luck.  🙂  I facilitate sessions both locally and by Skype or FaceTime.

I GUESS MY QUESTION ISN’T ASKED VERY OFTEN, BECAUSE IT WASN’T ON THE FAQ’S.

Sorry about that, but no problem!  Just email your question to theoperayogi@gmail.com, or contact me at 415-235-8096.
